We are thrilled to have a Lehigh Valley Food Blogger on board with us this week, and she’ll be sharing some places that may be familiar to you!

The Getaway Bar & Grill
Our next restaurant stop on our PA tour is The Getaway Bar & Grill! They recently re-opened under new management and we are so excited they did! Get ready to enjoy some great eats and drinks!
The Getaway has emerged from the depths of 2020 as a revamped Bar & Grill under the ownership of Greg Novak and Chad Hardy. These two started together back in the 1990s and have a working resume that includes well known hot spots like Metropol, Donzis, Crewser’s, Diesel and Whim nightclubs, Sanctuary, Altar Bar, Charlies Murdoch’s Dueling Piano Bar, and Cain’s Saloon.
The new South Hills destination for food and libations, The Getaway Bar & Grill boasts a balanced offering of local and global Drafts, bottled ciders, seltzers, and a destination-inspired cocktail menu. The food offerings are a step above traditional pub fare with a flair of elevated sophistication.
We hope you enjoyed the great eats of the Getaway Bar & Grill as much as us! We especially cannot wait to try some of their destination-inspired cocktails as well! Cheers!
We are so excited to welcome @PhillyFoodDad, an incredible food blogger from, you guessed it, Philadelphia! Their eats are mouth-watering and I am obsessed with EVERYTHING they post! You’re all in for a real treat!
the beginning of the food journey
“I’ve been a foodie ever since I could remember. When I was a kid, my dad would take my mom, sister and me on trips. We would travel all over Philadelphia finding new spots. We always looked forward to going on the hunt for an amazing dish. That followed me through my teenage years and now that I have a family of my own, I wanted to keep that tradition going for my children. I have always been into taking pictures to show off my meals. One day during our summer vacation back in 2016, my wife suggested the idea of a foodie blog in IG, and Thats where Philly Food Dad was born!
I’m so excited for you guys to discover PA! One thing about Philadelphia in particular, is that we have food from all over the world! So there’s something for everyone.
One of my favorite spots is called West Ave Grill. What makes this place really stand out is the brunch options they offer. Chef and owner Dan Katz has a lot of delicious entrees on the menu. Some of my favorite dishes are the Cinnamon Toast Crunch french toast, and also the stacked Brisket Burger. I definitely recommend these for first time customers and even returning.
Another one of my favorite spots would have to be Spice C. This spot is located in the Chinatown section of the city and they specialize in hand drawn noodles! Our go-to is the 3 treasures. Which is a bowl of noodles in a spicy broth filled with pork, chicken and shrimp. You can’t go wrong with this dish.
Recent restaurant experiences
Recently, we visited Luckys Last Chance. They are located in Manayunk and they are known for their great burgers. We started the meal with a local brewed beer, followed by their delicious Cajun chicken Mac n cheese. It was hard deciding what burger to get. So we went with “ El Guapo”! Two patties topped with fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, pepper jack cheese and crispy tortilla chips.
The vibes, and staff definitely made it a great experience! I was almost done my first beer and the bartender was so quick to give me a refill. I love that!!
sweet treats & Coffee
For a sweet treat and coffee, one of my local favorites is The Coffee Room. This gem is located in the historic town of Newtown Pa, not too far from Philly! They make one of the best PSL’s! They sell baked goods made by local bakers and are served fresh daily.
where to next?
I don’t have any upcoming trips at the moment. But we’d love to start planning a trip to Costa Rica within the next year or so. That’s where I was born and I’d love to go back and take my family so they can experience the delicious food I had growing up!”
What did we tell you everyone – were those restaurants not AMAZING?! At UBMe we absolutely cannot wait to get to Philadelphia and try absolutely everything that was mentioned! If you don’t yet follow @PhillyFoodDad, you must on Instagram!

The Food journey
“I have really always loved food. I would say within the last 5 years or so I really became a huge foodie. I was really on a health and fitness kick and started to prepare my own meals and just loved to be creative, yet healthy when making my meals.
I started trying out a bunch of new restaurants and going to local food festivals. I would post pictures on my personal instagram and then about 2 or 3 years ago, I decided to make an instagram dedicated to food because some of my regular followers may not want to see that type of content.

recent dining experience
I recently went to 3rd & Ferry Fish Market with a group of friends. I got oysters, ahi tuna tacos and crab macaroni and cheese. To drink I had their amazing bloody mary that comes with a crab cake slider, shrimp and crab meat. Sooooooo amazing. Seafood is one of my favorites and anyone who spices up a Bloody Mary is good in my book. I like the atmosphere, location and the food at this spot.
foodie bucket list
The next couple of months are full of exciting food festivals in the area. We have Oktoberfest, Garlic Fest and Bacon Fest all coming up in the next 2 months. I would love to check out Nashville and get some good grub there. Also, NOLA is my favorite place. I’d love to get back there again.
If I could go anywhere in the world for a specific cuisine, it would have to be Japan or Mexico, as those are my two favorite types of food.”
Thank you stef!

After meeting and marrying Judi in the 90s, they decided to work together. Since then, they have strived to create an institution as a premier seafood restaurant in Philadelphia.
They take pleasure in knowing the names and faces of regulars who frequently visit their restaurant. Their philosophy is to “understand the neighborhood and you’ll understand the product you need to provide.” Under their direction, Seafood Unlimited is successfully celebrating its 50 anniversary this year.
